THE VIBE

ART MAGAZINE

ART BY ASHA MCCRAY

ABOUT

Welcome to the first issue of Vibe 2020!

2020 has been stressful for everyone. Between the pandemic, virtual school, civil unrest, and the recent election, life has been overwhelming. This year has been physically and emotionally draining.

Especially now, everyone could use a stress reliever. Over quarantine, many people have tried new hobbies as a stress outlet. Whether it was drawing, playing music, dancing, acting, or baking, we want to showcase that art. Art is a great outlet for stress, and we want to acknowledge the beautiful work that students have created.

This is what Vibe is for: to challenge the idea that perfect art exists, and to bring respect to those who take the time to master such crafts.

We are open to any skill and level, and this year, any medium.

Not only do we want to bring out the voices of the artists in our school; we also want to encourage creativity, because we believe that everyone has the ability to make art.

If you're interested in joining our team or submitting your own art for the next issue, don't be afraid to reach out to us! We publish one issue per quarter. You can contact us at vibemhs@gmail.com; follow us on Instagram (@vibemhs) and TikTok (@vibemhs).

Thank you for visiting our magazine-turned-website. We hope you enjoy!

“In many cultures, in many countries, food really is an expression of love, and it’s actually beautiful because it’s something we really all relate to." - Julie Ohana, Culinary Art Therapist

Cooking and baking is meditative as it takes your whole attention while also being simple and repetitive. It creates space in the mind, and eases negative thinking processes.
